Brazil Joins South Africa’s Genocide Case Against Israel at ICJ

According to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Brazil has formally requested to intervene in the genocide case originally filed by South Africa against Israel.

The court statement highlighted that Brazil submitted its declaration under Article 63 of the ICJ Statute, aiming to support the proceedings over alleged violations of the Genocide Convention in Gaza.

The case dates back to December 29, 2023, when South Africa filed the initial application against Israel regarding the treatment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Recently, Cuba also sought to join South Africa’s complaint, signaling growing international involvement.

This move underscores the increasing global scrutiny over alleged war crimes in Gaza, as countries rally for accountability through legal channels.
