SAEDNEWS: Lindsey Graham announced that Trump supports the plan to impose a 500% tariff on buyers of Russian oil.
According to Saed News, quoting ABC News, U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated in an interview with ABC News that Donald Trump supports a new sanctions plan against Russia and countries purchasing its energy resources. The bill will be put to a vote in Congress after the July recess.
Graham described this development as a “major achievement.” He added that the plan proposes a 500% tariff on imports from countries that buy Russian energy. If a country purchases energy from Russia and does not assist Ukraine, its goods will be subject to a 500% tariff when entering the U.S.
The American senator stated that the main goal of this move is to reduce Russia’s war revenues. Currently, China and India purchase more than 70% of Russian oil. These countries are financing Putin’s war machine, and this must stop.
He added that voting on the bill in Congress will take place after the recess ends on July 7. “I can assure you that Trump will sign the bill if it passes. I believe we are on the right path, but our ultimate goal is to force Putin to negotiate.”
