SAEDNEWS: A leading Israeli affairs analyst warns that the economic toll of the escalating conflict with Iran has already surpassed that of the 21-month Gaza war — and Israel’s budget deficit is spiraling out of control.
According to Saed News, Mansour Barati, an analyst specializing in Israeli affairs, has highlighted the growing economic and internal vulnerabilities of Israel just ten days into its conflict with Iran. In a recent video analysis, Barati cited alarming figures that expose the financial strain the war is placing on Israel.
"According to recent assessments, the economic fallout from this conflict is becoming increasingly evident," Barati stated. "As reported by The Marker, a prominent economic publication in the occupied territories, Iranian missile strikes have inflicted damages worth approximately 5 billion shekels ($1.44 billion) in just the first ten days of fighting."
To underscore the severity, Barati drew comparisons to Israel’s previous war in Gaza. "During the 21-month-long conflict with Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza, total economic losses amounted to around 2.5 billion shekels ($720 million). In contrast, the damages from just ten days of Iranian attacks have nearly doubled that figure."
Barati also pointed to Israel’s precarious fiscal trajectory. The country's budget, passed in the Knesset just months ago, had already forecast an 8% budget deficit for the year—primarily due to the Gaza conflict. "Now, with intensifying clashes with Iran and surging economic damages, projections suggest the deficit could exceed 10%, possibly nearing 15% by the end of 2025," he warned. "Of course, much depends on how long and how severe the fighting becomes."
Security measures inside Israel are also tightening, as intelligence agencies brace for broader Iranian operations. Barati noted a shift in the geographical and temporal patterns of Iranian attacks—from Eilat to Jerusalem and other southern regions—which he interprets as a signal of Tehran’s readiness for expanded military action. The fear of a larger, more devastating strike on Israeli territory is growing by the day.
