Saednews: Following the U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Representative from New York, described Trump’s action as a serious violation of the Constitution and stated that this move clearly provides sufficient grounds for his impeachment.
According to SaedNews, on Saturday night, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote on the social media platform X:
“The president’s catastrophic decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a serious and blatant violation of the Constitution and Congress’s war powers. This decision could drag us into a war of mass destruction. This is without question an impeachable offense.”
According to Article I of the U.S. Constitution, the power to declare war rests solely with Congress. Nevertheless, presidents from both parties have at times launched military operations without prior authorization.
Other Democratic Reactions:
Sean Casten, Representative from Illinois, also referred to Trump’s action as an “undeniable offense and grounds for impeachment,” stating:
“This isn’t about Iran — it’s about the fact that no president has the right to bomb another country without congressional approval.”
Hakeem Jeffries, House Minority Leader, said:
“Trump ordered military action without congressional authorization and must immediately brief Congress in a classified session.”
Katherine Clark, Assistant Minority Leader, described the attack as “unauthorized and illegal.”
