SAEDNEWS: A major street in Haifa has been sealed off after Iranian missiles hit buildings in the city’s core, prompting emergency safety operations. Authorities cited structural risk from the impact zone, marking another dramatic consequence of Tehran’s retaliatory strikes.
According to Saed News, The Israeli port city of Haifa is grappling with the aftermath of Iranian missile strikes that directly impacted urban infrastructure, forcing the closure of a major street and the suspension of public transportation in the area.
According to Saed News, citing ISNA, a missile launched by Iran struck buildings along Haifa’s Independence Street, damaging structures and raising immediate concerns over public safety. In response, city authorities and Israeli police ordered the full closure of the street from 9 p.m. on Saturday night, with no indication yet as to when it might reopen.
“The closure was implemented to allow for urgent structural inspections and stabilization efforts,” the Haifa municipality said in a statement. “The risk to nearby buildings requires swift intervention.”
In addition to road closures, the city announced the suspension of all public transport services operating along the affected corridor. Bus stops along the street have been shut down indefinitely, with detours in place to reroute traffic.
The strike on Haifa forms part of a broader wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks launched in retaliation for Israel’s recent U.S.-backed strikes on nuclear sites inside Iranian territory — including those at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
As Iranian missile fire continues to land in strategic and symbolic areas of Israel, pressure is mounting on the Netanyahu government to prevent further urban disruption while averting a wider regional escalation.
