SAEDNEWS: an official and urgent letter addressed to the President of the UN Security Council has sent by Iran.
According to SAEDNEWS– In an official and urgent letter addressed to the President of the UN Security Council, the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York has strongly condemned the recent Israeli regime attacks—backed by the United States—on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and senior military officials. The letter calls for an emergency Security Council meeting and a firm international response to these criminal and provocative actions.
The letter states:
"In a reckless, illegal, and premeditated act, the Zionist regime has launched a series of coordinated military strikes against Iran’s nuclear centers and civilian infrastructure. These actions are a blatant violation of the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law, and they pose a grave threat to regional and global peace and security."
Iran’s mission emphasized that one of the main targets was the Natanz nuclear facility, which is fully safeguarded and monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It warns:
"Attacking such facilities not only endangers the lives of innocent Iranian civilians but also risks a catastrophic radiological disaster in the region. These deliberate attacks constitute a clear breach of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and Iran’s legal obligations under the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement."
The Iranian delegation further warns that these assaults undermine the foundation of the global non-proliferation regime and the credibility of the IAEA’s mission. It cautions that continuing such conduct may create a dangerous precedent, threatening collective global security.
The letter also highlights a string of targeted terrorist operations in Tehran, which have led to the martyrdom of senior Iranian military commanders and top nuclear scientists. These assassinations are labeled as clear acts of state terrorism, and the letter adds:
"The Israeli Prime Minister has openly and arrogantly claimed responsibility for these crimes, which amounts to a public confession of international criminal acts."
The Iranian mission affirms that these attacks constitute a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity—as a UN member state—and under international humanitarian law, they are acts of aggression and war crimes. The letter emphasizes:
"Such actions represent a flagrant breach of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which explicitly prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state."
Warning of the grave consequences of this open aggression, Iran asserts:
"These recent coordinated actions amount to a declaration of war against the Islamic Republic of Iran and form part of the Zionist regime’s illegal and destabilizing behavior in the region. This regime—undeniably one of the most terroristic and lawless entities in the world—has crossed all red lines. The international community must not allow such crimes to go unanswered."
The letter demands that the UN Security Council and Secretary-General explicitly condemn this blatant aggression and immediately fulfill their responsibilities under the UN Charter by taking swift, firm, and binding actions to hold the Zionist regime fully accountable for its crimes.
In conclusion, invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran reaffirms its inherent right to self-defense, stressing:
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will respond in a firm, proportional, and deterrent manner at the appropriate time and place. Defending our territorial integrity, our people, and our national security is an absolute, non-negotiable right. The Zionist regime will pay a heavy price for this aggression and strategic miscalculation."
Finally, Iran formally requests the immediate convening of an emergency UN Security Council meeting to address the scope of this aggression and its threat to global peace and security—and to ensure the Zionist regime is held fully and effectively accountable for its international responsibilities.
