A Strange Scenario: Woman Who Killed Her Unfaithful Husband Forgiven After 16 Years

According to the Saed News accident service, quoting Etemad Online:

The sole heir (legal claimant) of the case agreed to forgive and pardon his daughter-in-law on the condition that a school be built in the name of his deceased son. Previously, the woman condemned to retribution (qisas) had twice faced the gallows due to killing her husband and had regained hope of life through the heir’s temporary pardon. She faced the gallows for the third time as well, and finally, her mother-in-law agreed to forgive her but imposed a condition on her and her family.

This woman, who killed her husband on October 4, 2008 (12 Mehr 1387 in the Iranian calendar), tried to mislead the investigation by staging the scene.

She had given her husband a large amount of medicine, causing poisoning. Afterwards, she attempted to pretend that her husband had died of a stroke, but forensic experts, after thorough examinations, found a large amount of drugs in the deceased man’s blood and body. Although the young woman insisted that her husband died of a stroke and that his symptoms before death were stroke-like, the forensic medical authority declared the man’s death a murder.

Consequently, the woman was arrested on charges of killing her husband and ultimately confessed to the crime. She said: “Because of the disagreements we had, I poisoned and killed him with drugs, but since I was alone at the time of death and no one was home, I easily staged the scene to make his death appear natural.”

The accused woman further confessed: “My father was financially well-off, and before our marriage, my husband worked for my father. Since he was capable and did the tasks assigned to him well, when he proposed to me, my father accepted because he said if I handed over my assets to him, I would be at ease. But that was not the whole story; after marriage, I realized he had relationships with many women.”

Regarding the reason and manner of the murder, she said: “The night before, I became certain that my husband was definitely involved with a woman. That’s why I put the drugs that caused his death into his drink and gave it to him to make him die. Then, with staging, I wanted to acquit myself, but ultimately I failed.”

Following these confessions and the completion of investigations, and considering the request of the heirs, the woman was sentenced to retribution. She was twice taken to the gallows after confirmation of the sentence, but before execution, she temporarily managed to win over the only heir of the deceased, who is her mother-in-law, and returned to her cell in prison.

The heir, who in the latest opportunity agreed to pardon his daughter-in-law, explained his reason for refraining from executing the sentence: “Every night before the execution, I saw my son in my dreams, disturbed. That is why I withdrew from carrying out the sentence.”

Following the pardon by the deceased’s mother, who lives in one of the central cities of the country, she set the condition of building a school. Accordingly, the condemned woman’s family agreed to build a school in the name of the deceased. Thus, the case has entered a new phase, and the process of constructing the school must begin so that the heir can give his final consent.

On the other hand, given that the condemned has already served 16 years in prison, she will be released shortly after the construction plan is finalized and the heir grants definitive forgiveness.
