Saed News: 23 antique items from the Iron Age were discovered in Roudbar County.
According to the historical service of Saed News, the police commander of Gilan announced the discovery of 23 antique items from the Iron Age in Roudbar County.
Brigadier General Azizollah Maleki, speaking to reporters, stated that following a report about an individual involved in the smuggling of antique items in Roudbar County, the police launched an investigation into the matter.
The police commander of Gilan explained that officers from Roudbar’s 11th Police Station, through covert investigations and technical measures, confirmed the existence of antique items being stored at the suspect’s residence. He added that, after identifying the suspect’s hideout, the police, in coordination with the judiciary, went to the location.
This senior police official clarified that, during a search of the suspect's home, two metal detectors and 23 antique items were discovered, including 6 bronze coins, 4 seals, 2 gold earrings, 4 metal items, 1 gold necklace, 1 pottery jar, 1 gold chain, and 4 copper items.
Brigadier General Maleki further added that the 35-year-old suspect was arrested and referred to the judicial authorities for legal proceedings. Cultural heritage experts confirmed that the discovered items date back to the Iron Age.
The police commander of Gilan concluded by emphasizing that smuggling antique objects and archaeological artifacts is a form of plundering the country’s culture and history, urging citizens to report any individuals involved in such illicit activities through the 110 emergency line.
