Saed News: Recently, the story of a couple demanding money in exchange for giving wedding cake to their guests has caused a stir on social media.
According to Saed News, quoting Young Journalists Club (YJC) and 24 AI, a newlywed couple recently asked their guests for money in exchange for wedding cake during their wedding ceremony. One of the guests revealed that the bride announced on her wedding day that the guests should help cover the cost of the wedding cake and pay for each piece they eat.
The guests, who were charged £3.66 (4.5 USD) for a piece of wedding cake, did not object. However, the surprise came when one of the guests received a message from the couple stating that they owed £3.66 (4.5 USD) more because they had eaten cake twice during the event.
This guest shared a video of a WhatsApp conversation that took place a few days after the wedding, where the couple stated:
"Hello, we were reviewing the television camera footage and noticed that you ate two pieces of wedding cake. We announced that each guest must pay £3.66 for each piece of cake, and we realized that you only paid for one piece. Could you please send us the additional £3.66 for the second piece of cake?"
A screenshot of this message was uploaded to Reddit, where it was widely criticized by users. One of them commented:
"If you can’t afford to buy cake to gift to your guests, don’t get married."
Another user harshly criticized the bride's actions and sarcastically said:
"This person should tell the couple that I paid an amount for a gift, another for fuel to attend the party, a third for the clothes I bought, and also missed extra work hours to attend the event. Please calculate these costs immediately and send me the late fee as well."
