Iran Reacts to Terror Drone Assault in Tajikistan

In a statement on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the terrorist attack in Shamsiddin Shohin district of Tajikistan’s Khatlon border province, which killed three Chinese nationals working in the region.

Baqaei offered condolences to the victims’ families and expressed Iran’s solidarity with the governments of Tajikistan and China. Highlighting Iran’s firm stance against all forms of terrorism, he emphasized the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation to prevent and combat such acts.

According to Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry, the attack occurred on Thursday night, originating from inside Afghanistan using a drone armed with grenades and firearms.

Afghanistan, meanwhile, expressed “deep regret” and strongly condemned the cross-border attack, noting that an initial assessment suggests the involvement of elements attempting to sow chaos, instability, and distrust among regional countries.
