Afghanistan Emphasizes Using Iran’s Route to Boost Global Trade ✅

Afghanistan is expanding its use of trade routes through Iran and Central Asia as border tensions with Pakistan persist, with freight increasingly diverted from Pakistani crossings and ports, officials stressed.

Over the past six months, the trade value between Kabul and Islamabad reached $1.1 billion, while Kabul’s trade with Iran rose to $1.6 billion during the same period, according to Akhundzada.

Iran has deployed upgraded handling equipment and X-ray scanners at Chabahar Port and is offering Afghan freight a 30 percent reduction in port tariffs, a 75 percent cut in storage fees, and 55 percent off docking charges.

“The use of Chabahar Port has reduced delays and facilitated the transportation of goods,” the spokesman noted.

He added, “The facilities at Chabahar have minimized delays and given traders confidence that shipments will continue even when borders close.”
