Iranian Professors Urge UN Action Over Israeli Attack on Qatar

A group of Iranian university lecturers has formally appealed to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, condemning the recent Israeli attack on residential areas in Qatar and calling for immediate international action.

The letter, authored by Dr. Mahmoud Sadeghi on behalf of the Islamic Association of University Lecturers, highlights the devastating impact of the attack, which resulted in the deaths of several Palestinian and Qatari civilians and posed a serious threat to regional security.

“This incident not only endangers a UN member state but also undermines the international community’s efforts to de-escalate tensions,” the letter reads, stressing that attacks of this nature violate the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Dr. Sadeghi urged the UN to implement practical measures to prevent the recurrence of such aggressive actions and to strengthen diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the Palestinian crisis and alleviating the suffering of Gaza’s population. He also called for vigilance in light of recent agreements between Iran and the IAEA to prevent any potential warmongering actions by Israel.

Copies of the letter were sent to the President of the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, underlining the broad regional concern over the incident.

The appeal emphasizes that sustainable peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through dialogue, respect for international law, and protection of the rights of all nations involved.
