SAEDNEWS: Iranian police in Semnan province intercepted a vehicle transporting over 11,000 firearm molds and empty cartridges, arresting the driver as the cargo was en route to Tehran. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to curb illicit arms manufacturing in the region.
On Tuesday afternoon, General Mousa Hosseini, Commander of Semnan Province Police, announced the discovery of firearm molds in Shahroud County during a press briefing at the Semnan Police Headquarters.
According to Mehr News Agency, he added that police and Basij forces became suspicious of a Nissan vehicle in Shahroud County and stopped it for inspection. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered and confiscated molds used for manufacturing firearms.
The Semnan Police Chief reported that a total of 11,157 firearm molds, along with empty cartridge belts, were seized from the vehicle.
Hosseini also stated that the driver of the vehicle was arrested and the cargo was confiscated. The vehicle had been traveling from northern Iran toward Tehran when it was intercepted.
