We Will Make a Decision Regarding the Future of Cooperation With the International Atomic Energy Agency

According to Saednews, Asadollah Eshragh Jahromi, Iran’s ambassador to Austria, in an interview with Karl Wendl, a journalist from Austria’s OE24 television, responded to a question about the current ceasefire by stating:

"The Islamic Republic of Iran did not start the war; it was the Israeli regime that launched an aggressive attack against Iran in blatant violation of fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter. In response, Iran, based on international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter, exercised its legitimate right to self-defense to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, people, and national interests."

The ambassador added:
"As the Iranian Foreign Minister clearly stated, whenever the Israeli regime halts its aggressive attacks against Iran, we will also stop our military operations in response. Any decision regarding a ceasefire depends on the regime’s behavior."

Jahromi described Iran’s military strike on the American Al Udeid base in Qatar as a reaction to the U.S. aggressive attack on Iran’s peaceful and safeguarded nuclear facilities, and said:
"This response was in line with the legitimate right to self-defense under international law and was carried out with full respect for the friendly and brotherly relations with the government of Qatar."

He further emphasized:
"We have no hesitation in defending our country. All the facilities that were attacked are under the full supervision of the IAEA. Iran is a responsible and committed member of the NPT and other international disarmament treaties, and has signed a comprehensive safeguards agreement with the IAEA that allows oversight of all peaceful nuclear activities in Iran. In contrast, the Israeli regime is neither a member of the NPT nor any other international disarmament treaties, and its military nuclear program is not under IAEA oversight — yet it illegally possesses over 200 nuclear warheads."

Regarding the claim of missile launches from Iranian territory and violation of the ceasefire, the ambassador stated:
"This is a fabricated claim by the Israelis. Relevant Iranian officials have completely denied it."

In response to a question about the extent of damage to nuclear facilities and future cooperation with the IAEA, Iran’s ambassador in Vienna said:
"Damage has occurred, and the relevant authorities are currently assessing and evaluating it. Until these assessments are completed, we cannot provide an accurate statement. Even before these attacks, we had good cooperation with the IAEA, and all nuclear facilities were under its full supervision. As for the future of cooperation, a decision will be made accordingly."
