SAEDNEWS: The United States has reportedly sent a message to Iran through mediators over the Islamic Republic's response to the assassination of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh by the Israeli regime.
According to SAEDNEWS, reported from Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Cairo has communicated messages from American officials to Iran regarding any potential targeting of Israeli officials or diplomats in the region, as well as any attacks on civilian or commercial facilities in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. This warning extends to actions taken directly from Iranian territory or through its regional allies.
However, the report notes that Cairo has not received any indications from Tehran about the nature of its next steps or anticipated responses. Instead, it appears that Iran's representatives were primarily focused on absorbing the views and messages articulated by Cairo.
As of now, Iranian officials have not issued any comments on the matter.
This comes in the wake of the tragic martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, who, along with one of his bodyguards, was killed after their residence in Tehran was attacked, according to a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Haniyeh had traveled to Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on July 30.
In response to Haniyeh's assassination, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated that the Israeli regime’s actions have set the stage for severe repercussions. He emphasized Iran's obligation to seek retribution for the assassination of Haniyeh, who was killed on the soil of the Islamic Republic.
