SAEDNEWS: Mehdi Motaharnia, an analyst of U.S. affairs, shared varying perspectives on the potential consequences of Donald Trump’s return to the White House for Tehran.

Trump’s Presence Could Benefit Tehran!

According to SAEDNEWS, quoting the news outlet “ChandSanieh,” Mehdi Motaharnia commented in an interview: "Trump’s approach has always been marked by chaos-driven policy, and his doctrine suggests he acts as a 'mad player.' His policies are pushing the United States toward isolation from Europe, and he designs his strategies based on maximum friction."

Motaharnia elaborated that Trump’s nationalist stance could lead to reduced international cooperation with the U.S. and escalate tensions with China, Russia, and European countries. This situation, he noted, could work in Iran's favor.

Motaharnia added that this new scenario could allow Tehran to draw closer to Europe, albeit temporarily. Trump’s protectionist policies, based on his “America First” slogan, could further strain relations with China.

Motaharnia continued, stating that Trump is likely to maintain his policy of "maximum pressure" against Iran. While Trump may be more measured in his statements with countries like Iran compared to the past, he would still apply the same intense pressure in practice.

"Under these conditions, the possibility of any negotiations under the name of the JCPOA will vanish. However, Trump never fully abandons the negotiation table. It’s important to note that Trump’s approach to negotiations is fundamentally different from the perspectives held by Biden and Kamala Harris."

Motaharnia concluded by highlighting that Trump would adopt a more aggressive stance toward the Middle East. His close relationship with Israel would encourage Netanyahu to pursue more assertive policies in the region.

“I must emphasize that Trump is focused on direct negotiations with Iran and will not accept indirect communication channels for talks between Iran and the United States.”
