Saed News: At my age, I couldn’t make decisions for my future; in fact, I had no knowledge about marriage. I was simply influenced by my aunt’s words, who claimed that my suitor’s father was very wealthy and would provide his son with a house, a car, and a job, but...
According to the incident service of Saed News, quoting Khabar Fori, a 12-year-old girl, with tears covering her face, shared her heartbreaking story with a social worker and counselor at the Tabarsi North Police Station in Mashhad. She said: "Today, all that's left for me is a broken heart."
"I am the only daughter in my family, and my two older brothers are still unmarried. My father works as a laborer in the village, and my mother takes care of the household. However, we are not financially well off. I was in the sixth grade when, a few months ago, my aunt arranged a marriage proposal for me to her son. My aunt is the second wife of a retired military man, who married her because his first wife was unable to have children," the girl explained.
Despite this relationship, the boy, Haydar, had a much closer bond with his stepmother than with his biological mother and preferred to spend time with her. His father, who was financially well off, tried to find a job for Haydar, who wasn’t interested in studies and had dropped out of school at a young age. The girl's uncle set up a store for Haydar to sell films and video games, but he wasn’t interested in working and didn’t go to the store. During this time, Haydar had started a relationship with another girl, and the entire neighborhood was aware of it, even the girl's mother knew.
When her aunt and uncle found out about the relationship, they tried to convince Haydar to end it, but he secretly continued the relationship. When he turned 18 and had to go to military service, the girl's uncle went to the girl's house and asked her not to answer Haydar's calls and to cut off the relationship. However, when Haydar returned home on leave, he insisted that his family go to the girl's house to propose. This deeply upset the girl’s aunt, who immediately arranged for her to marry Haydar, believing that this would end his infatuation with the other girl.
Her aunt claimed that since her husband was financially well off, they would provide everything for Haydar, including a house and a car, and that the girl would have a comfortable life. Although she had some affection for her cousin, the girl didn’t understand marriage and was unaware of its implications. Her father, seeing the situation, agreed to the marriage for his daughter's comfort. However, when they went to the marriage office to finalize the wedding, the officiant said her age was too young to legally register the marriage. As a result, they returned home, and the girl's uncle arranged a temporary marriage contract (Sigheh) in the house, making her and Haydar "mahram" (legally forbidden to marry each other).
Haydar still treated her coldly and with disrespect, as if she were a servant. After a month, he took her to a religious place and annulled the temporary marriage contract. He simply told her that he had reconciled with the other girl and no longer loved her. Now, with a broken heart, the 12-year-old girl was experiencing her first heartbreak and was unsure how to deal with the shame and gossip of others. She felt her dreams and hopes had been shattered due to Haydar's wealth.
The tragic story of this young girl is now under expert psychological and social counseling review at the Tabarsi North Police Station, following an order from Major Jawad Yaqoubi, the station's chief.
