Tehran Responds to US Seizure of Venezuelan President's Plane

According to SAEDNEWS, The Iranian Foreign Ministry has expressed strong opposition to the United States' recent seizure of the plane operated by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The ministry's spokesman denounced this act as a breach of international law.

Nasser Kan’ani, the spokesperson, labeled the US action as part of its ongoing unilateral coercive measures against other nations, claiming it is causing disorder and fostering a "banditry" mentality in aviation. He warned that such actions threaten global peace and air security.

Kan’ani voiced solidarity with the Venezuelan government, underscoring its efforts to protect national assets for its citizens. He highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation among nations to combat US sanctions and coercive tactics.

Echoing these sentiments, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the US for disregarding international legal standards. She stated, "The US authorities have seized a Venezuelan presidential aircraft that was undergoing maintenance in the Dominican Republic. Once again, they have demonstrated their complete disregard for international legal norms and, citing the 'right of the strong,' have sent yet another signal that the US, as it understands it, can dispose of the sovereign property of another state."

The US Department of Justice announced on Monday that Maduro's aircraft had been taken in the Dominican Republic due to violations of export control and sanctions laws. Reports indicate that the plane has since been transported to Florida.
