Senior Cleric Celebrates Return of POWs as Historic Triumph for Islamic Revolution

According to SAEDNEWS, Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Hassan Abu Torabi Fard, Tehran's Interim Friday Prayers Leader, reflected on the significance of the return of Prisoners of War (POW) to Iran, describing it as "the most promising and proudest days of the Islamic Revolution." He highlighted the sacrifices made by these brave men who fought against the Iraqi Ba'ath Party during the eight years of the Sacred Defense, a period that encompassed the Iran-Iraq War from 1980 to 1988.

"It is no exaggeration to say that the days when the prisoners of war returned to the country are the proudest and most promising days in the history of the Islamic Revolution," the senior cleric emphasized. He praised the unwavering loyalty of the POWs to the principles of the Islamic Revolution, stating that they served as a key pillar of resistance against the enemy throughout the conflict.

Commemorating the 26th of Mordad (August 17), Abu Torabi Fard underscored the importance of this day for the nation, asserting, "This day is a great day for the great nation of Islamic Iran who defended all sacred values of the Islamic Revolution in the battlefield with all their might despite the tortures they sustained in the solitary confinements and sanatoriums of Saddam's Baathist forces."

In his remarks, the cleric also condemned the actions of the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, highlighting that the POWs expressed their solidarity with Islam and the Palestinian nation in their fight against the Zionist enemy.

Abu Torabi Fard concluded his address by celebrating Iran's impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he noted that Iran participated with 40 athletes and secured 12 medals. He remarked that this achievement positioned Iran at the top rank in the Islamic world, Southwest Asia, and North Africa, surpassing countries such as Argentina, Switzerland, Belgium, and Portugal.
