SAEDNEWS: Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned Israel’s assassination of former Palestinian Prime Minister and head of Hamas Resistance movement’s politburo Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran Wednesday.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a significant address during an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Hissein Brahim Taha spoke out against the ongoing violations committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Taha emphasized the gravity of the situation, drawing attention to Israel's continuous disregard for international law and the resulting humanitarian crises.
“Israel’s persistence of these crimes, as it stops at nothing in breaking every international law and resolution, constitutes infringement upon Iran’s sovereignty and national security, in flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter,” he stated, underscoring the severe implications of Israel's actions not only for Palestinians but for regional stability as a whole.
Furthermore, Taha urged the United Nations Security Council to take immediate and decisive action. He implored the council to fulfill its responsibilities and implement necessary measures to compel Israel to adhere to international law, urging that its aggression poses threats to both regional and global peace and security.
The OIC meeting was convened in response to a request from Iran, aimed at addressing Israel’s ongoing offenses against the Palestinian populace, highlighting a recent incident that saw the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran, a matter that Iran views as a profound infringement on its sovereignty.
This gathering serves as a crucial platform for OIC member states to unite in their responses to Israeli actions, fostering a collective voice advocating for the rights of Palestinians and adherence to international legal standards.
