London-Based Foreign Diplomats Support Tehran’s Legitimate Response to Aggressors: Iran’s Envoy

According to SAEDNEWS, Iran’s Ambassador to Britain, Ali Mousavi, says the recent Israeli and U.S. aggression against Iran is causing concern within the diplomatic community in London, with many nations characterizing Tehran’s retaliatory military actions as legitimate and in self-defense.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Book of Condolences at the Iranian Embassy on Monday, Mousavi said that many foreign diplomats appreciated Iran’s punitive and firm response to the Israeli regime and its aggressive actions.

The diplomatic community is generally with Iran; of course, some of them have political considerations, which is a separate issue, he said.

Referring to his meetings with British and other European officials, the Iranian envoy expressed disappointment over their failure to condemn the attack and aggression based on their international obligations.

According to him, the silence of Western officials against illegal and hostile action of Israel and the U.S. once again showed double standards, shameful behavior and their lack of respect for human rights and international law.

He said that the war exposed European countries and their claims to be the defenders of human rights and international law. “This is a matter of regret and shame for them.”

Emphasizing Iran’s adherence to international laws and obligations, the ambassador stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran had always called for the peaceful resolution of issues, which it would continue despite in the face of the violation of the Israeli regime, and its main backer, the United States.

Mousavi said the Book of Condolences for the London diplomatic community, international organizations, and representatives, is a small part of the Embassy’s gratitude to those who had sacrificed their lives for the country, adding, “We will strive to further pursue the path of explaining the bravery of the Iranian nation by fulfilling our diplomatic duties.”

Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression on June 13, assassinating Iran’s military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians in Tehran and other cities. The Iranian Armed Forces responded by conducting 22 rounds of punitive strikes, using advanced missiles and drones that pierced through Israel’s multilayered air defense system to hit its strategic positions and forcing the regime to accept a U.S.-proposed ceasefire after 12 days of conflict. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has warned that the country’s armed forces, without the slightest trust in the words of the enemies, will be ready to give a decisive and regretful response to any act of aggression.
