Latin America Unites Against U.S. Strike on Iran: “A Grave Violation of Humanity and International Law”

According to Saed News, a wave of condemnation has swept across Latin America following the United States’ airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Governments from Havana to Santiago issued urgent calls for restraint and diplomacy, describing the American-led action as an unjustifiable act of aggression with potentially catastrophic consequences for the Middle East and beyond.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, posting on X (formerly Twitter), stated unequivocally:

“We strongly condemn the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, which dangerously escalates tensions in the Middle East. This aggression is a serious violation of the UN Charter and international law, dragging humanity into a crisis with irreparable consequences.”

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil echoed that sentiment, writing on Telegram:

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela firmly and categorically condemns the U.S. military aggression against Iran. This assault, conducted by the American military at Israel’s request and targeting key sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, must stop immediately.”

Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also responded via X, urging immediate diplomatic talks and emphasizing the need for de-escalation across the region.

“We reiterate our call for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East,” the statement read.

Chile’s Foreign Ministry went a step further, labelling the U.S. attack as a “serious threat to both regional and international security.”

The backlash followed a post on Truth Social by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed responsibility for what he called a “highly successful strike” on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

In response, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization released a defiant statement early Sunday, vowing that the country’s nuclear development would remain unstoppable.

“Despite the barbaric actions of the Zionist enemy in recent days,” the statement read, “Iran’s nuclear sites were targeted again at dawn in an act that flagrantly violates the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and international law.”

The organization warned that the attack had taken place under the “indifference—and even complicity—of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” and emphasized that the sites were under constant IAEA surveillance per the NPT’s safeguards agreement.

Reaffirming its commitment, the agency assured the Iranian people that the country’s nuclear program—hailed as the legacy of its martyred scientists—would “never be halted” and that legal avenues are being actively pursued in response to the assault.

With global powers largely silent and diplomatic channels under strain, Latin America's unified stance adds new pressure on Washington as geopolitical tensions surge to dangerous new heights.
