Iraqi President Opposes Use of Territory for Attacks on Iran

According to SAEDNEWS, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid has made it clear that Iraq does not support using its land as a "launch pad" for attacks on neighboring countries, specifically Iran. He shared this stance during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Baghdad on Sunday.

Rashid’s comments come in response to recent threats from Israel regarding possible actions against Iran following a missile attack. He emphasized the urgent need to stop Israeli attacks on Lebanon and to put an end to the war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Iraqi president expressed concern about the risk of war spreading in the region, calling for efforts to contain the conflict. He warned that ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon could threaten security and stability in both the region and the world. Rashid stressed the importance of resolving these crises through diplomatic solutions.

He also highlighted the significance of strengthening the relationship between Iraq and Iran. According to Rashid, the two neighboring countries should focus on building ties across various areas based on their historical, social, and religious connections, ultimately benefiting both nations and enhancing regional security.

In his response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed Iran's position on the growing tensions in the region. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to promoting international peace and security, stating that Israel's actions against Lebanon and Gaza violate international law and norms.
