SAEDNEWS: Israel’s energy infrastructure has suffered a major disruption after Iranian missile strikes targeted key sites in the south of the country, knocking out electricity to thousands of homes.
According to Saed News, citing Fars News Agency, Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz confirmed that more than 8,000 households in the port city of Ashdod were left without electricity following a direct hit on a major power facility during this morning’s missile barrage.
The Israel Electric Corporation also acknowledged damage to a “strategic power installation” in the south, which was reportedly struck during Iran’s retaliatory missile assault launched earlier on Monday. The attacks, part of an escalating military exchange between the two adversaries, have severely impacted the electricity grid and disrupted normal power distribution in multiple areas.
Local Israeli media reported that the outage affected several settlements, with emergency repair crews deployed across Ashdod and neighbouring towns. The scale of the damage is still being assessed, but the incident marks one of the most direct hits on Israel’s critical infrastructure since the onset of the current round of hostilities.
Iran’s missile offensive earlier today involved the use of advanced ballistic weaponry, including Kheibar Shekan, Emad, Qadr, and Fattah-1 missiles, in what Tehran described as a “measured but decisive” response to recent attacks on its nuclear sites and sovereign territory.
As the region braces for potential further escalation, the disruption to Israel’s power network has highlighted the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure amid widening military confrontations between Iran and Israel.
