SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to deliver a decisive and regret-inducing response to any act of aggression, citing recent threats made by Donald Trump.
In a letter addressed to foreign ministers worldwide, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi condemned recent statements by the U.S. president as a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, urging the international community to issue an explicit and firm condemnation.
Referring to remarks made by the U.S. president on December 29, 2025, Araghchi stressed that threats of force against Iran represent a clear breach of the UN Charter, which explicitly prohibits any threat or use of force against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
The Iranian official recalled the joint military aggression carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran in June 2025, noting that recent threats indicate Washington’s clear intent to continue an unlawful and aggressive course of action, the consequences of which would rest solely with the United States.
Araghchi also cited the U.S. president’s official admission of Washington’s direct role in the June 2025 attacks targeting Iranian civilians, critical infrastructure, and peaceful nuclear facilities, describing these actions as blatant violations of international law that entail individual criminal responsibility for the U.S. officials involved.
In another section of the letter, Araghchi warned that threatening a UN member state in support of Israel highlights a dangerous double standard and undermines the global non-proliferation regime. He emphasized that U.S. unconditional support for Israel, described as the sole nuclear-armed state in West Asia, has severely endangered both regional and international security.
Highlighting the consequences of silence in the face of such unlawful threats, the Iranian foreign minister said that a climate of impunity has emboldened the United States and Israel to continue aggressive behavior, posing a direct threat to global peace and security.
On December 29, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Washington was open to dialogue with Tehran but reiterated that the option of using force remained on the table. "I hope they're not trying to build up again, because if they are, we're going to have no choice but very quickly to eradicate that buildup," he said.
On June 13, 2025, Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iran while Washington and Tehran were engaged in nuclear negotiations, triggering a 12-day war that left at least 1,064 dead, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The United States also entered the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, violating international law.
In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic sites across occupied territories and the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military base in West Asia. By June 24, Iran’s retaliatory operations successfully forced a halt to the aggression against both Israel and the United States.
