Iran Stands Firm: Bagheri Kani Asserts Nation Will Not Compromise on Security and Sovereignty

According to SAEDNEWS, On Tuesday night, Iran's Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani engaged in a phone conversation with his British counterpart, David Lammy. The discussion centered on the escalating instability in the region, which Bagheri Kani attributed primarily to the "aggressive and terrorist actions" of the Israeli regime.

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Bagheri Kani pointed out that following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh by Israeli forces—and what he described as a violation of Iran's national security—the European parties missed a critical opportunity for diplomatic engagement by failing to condemn these actions that threaten international peace and security. He argued that this inaction not only emboldens the Israeli regime to continue its "terrorist activities" but also exacerbates instability in the region.

Bagheri Kani made it clear that no nation, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, would compromise on issues of national security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

In response, Lammy urged Iran to exercise restraint, characterizing the assassination of Haniyeh as a setback to ongoing ceasefire efforts in Gaza. He highlighted the precarious situation between Israel and Lebanon, warning that a lack of restraint could lead to disastrous outcomes detrimental to all parties involved.

Ismail Haniyeh, along with one of his bodyguards, was reportedly killed when their residence in Tehran was targeted, according to a statement from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Following this incident, the IRGC released a statement asserting that Haniyeh's assassination was "designed and implemented by the Zionist regime with the support of the criminal government of America."

In light of these developments, senior Iranian officials have vowed to respond appropriately to the actions of the Israeli regime. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, warned that the assassination of Haniyeh has set the stage for severe repercussions against the Israeli regime.

As tensions continue to escalate, the discourse between Iran and the West remains critical, with the potential for significant regional implications. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding situation.
