SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the Israeli regime’s latest act of aggression against Yemen, which led to the martyrdom of Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmad Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahwi along with several cabinet ministers.

In a statement on Saturday night, the ministry described the attack as a “terrorist crime” and called for urgent action from the international community and Muslim nations to confront the Zionist regime’s “reckless adventurism.”

The ministry said the brutal assault on Yemen’s infrastructure and residential areas, coupled with the assassination of senior officials and innocent civilians, constituted a “clear example of war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

It noted that the strike represented Tel Aviv’s vengeful response against a nation that has firmly supported the Palestinian cause.

“The terrorist attacks and the martyrdom of Yemeni officials will not undermine the resolve of the proud and courageous Yemeni nation to defend its dignity and continue supporting the oppressed people of Palestine,” the statement read, warning that such crimes only deepen hatred and outrage across the Islamic world toward Israel and its main backer, the US.

Extending condolences over the martyrdom of Yemen’s prime minister, ministers, and civilians, the Foreign Ministry held the United Nations and its member states responsible for taking urgent steps to stop the Zionist regime’s warmongering and to hold its leaders accountable.

It also warned of the growing threats posed by the Israeli regime’s expansionism and “organized terrorism” to regional and international peace and security.

The statement further criticized the UN Security Council’s inaction, saying it has emboldened Israel’s ongoing military aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional countries, while eroding international law and humanitarian norms.

Reaffirming the legal and moral duty of all governments to halt the genocide in Gaza and prevent further deaths caused by Israeli bombardments, starvation, and blockade, the Foreign Ministry stressed the necessity of prosecuting and punishing the Zionist regime’s political and military leaders for their “heinous crimes.”

The Houthis said in a statement on Saturday that Al-Rahawi, who served as prime minister in areas of Yemen that the group controls, was targeted along with other members of the Houthi-led government during a workshop.

“We shall take vengeance, and we shall forge from the depths of wounds a victory,” Mahdi al-Mashat, a Yemeni politician and military officer who serves as the chairman of the Supreme Political Council of the Houthis, said in a video message.

The Israeli regime has repeatedly targeted Houthi positions in recent months as the Yemeni group has launched attacks on the occupied territories and on Western vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, in a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza.
