Global Diplomacy in Action: Iran and Venezuela Strengthen Ties

Iran’s top diplomat, visiting New York for the 80th United Nations General Assembly, met with Venezuela’s Foreign Minister on Saturday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

The talks highlighted the strong and stable ties between Iran and Venezuela, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation across all fields. The two diplomats also reviewed key issues affecting the Caribbean and West Asia, warning against unilateralism and lawlessness by the United States and certain allies.

Addressing U.S. interventionist policies in the Caribbean, Iran’s foreign minister condemned threats to Venezuela’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government. In response, Venezuela’s foreign minister emphasized the right of all Non-Proliferation Treaty member states to access peaceful nuclear energy and criticized pressures from the U.S. and some European countries against Iran.

Both officials also highlighted the misuse of the UN Security Council to exert political pressure, describing it as a serious threat to the credibility of the United Nations.

In addition, the two ministers strongly condemned ongoing violence and genocide in Gaza, citing the complicity of the U.S. and calling attention to the urgent threat posed by the Zionist regime’s actions to international peace and security. They urged the international community to take immediate measures to halt the killings and hold perpetrators accountable.

This meeting underscores Iran’s proactive role in international diplomacy, its solidarity with global partners, and its commitment to advocating for justice, peace, and multilateral cooperation on the world stage.
