Envoy terms Israeli and U.S. aggression a clear violation of international law

According to Saednews, Anadolu reporters documented the aftermath of the Israeli attack that struck Evin Prison in northern Tehran on June 23, one day before a ceasefire took effect.

In a statement issued six days after the attack, Asghar Jahangir, spokesman for Iran’s judiciary, said the assault killed 71 people, including prison employees, soldiers, inmates, nearby residents, and families who had come to visit their loved ones.

The attack, which Iranian officials condemned as a barbaric act of state terrorism, was carried out with seven missiles launched from Israeli warplanes.

Footage captured by Anadolu showed the prison’s administrative building nearly reduced to rubble.

Furniture and documents inside were torn apart and scattered, and copies of the Holy Quran in the prison library were damaged.

The hospital building sustained serious damage, with shattered windows, broken glass, and ruined medical equipment rendering it largely inoperable.

The prosecutor’s office building also suffered heavy structural damage, and deputy prosecutor Ali Qenaatkar Mavardiani was among the victims.

The visiting hall, where prisoners were meeting with their families when the missiles struck, was destroyed, leading to numerous casualties among detainees and visitors.

Civilians in the surrounding neighborhood also suffered damage to homes and vehicles as a result of the strikes.
