SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry marked the first anniversary of former Hezbollah chief Seyed Hassan Nasrallah’s martyrdom by condemning Israel’s “terrorist crime” and calling for justice and punishment of the perpetrators of the revered figure’s assassination.

Commemorating Nasrallah: Iran Highlights Justice and Accountability in Regional History

In a statement released on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran recalled the Israeli strike on Beirut on September 27, 2024. The attack, carried out with advanced U.S. weaponry, tragically resulted in the martyrdom of Nasrallah in the heart of a residential neighborhood.

Describing the strike as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, the ministry labeled it a clear act of terrorism and assassination targeting an independent UN member state. The statement emphasized that demands for accountability for the “Zionist criminals” responsible will remain a steadfast call of the region’s nations and freedom-seekers worldwide.

Highlighting Nasrallah’s three decades of leadership, the ministry praised his decisive role in strengthening Lebanon’s deterrence against aggression and occupation. One year on, it noted, the Israeli regime’s expansionist ambitions, including the so-called “Greater Israel” project, remain the greatest threat to regional security, underscoring the legitimacy and necessity of resistance.

The statement also honored other figures martyred alongside Nasrallah, including senior IRGC commander General Abbas Nilforoushan and Hezbollah’s Seyed Hashem Safieddine, acknowledging their lifelong dedication to defending their nations, supporting the Palestinian cause, and confronting the Zionist regime’s warmongering and genocidal actions.

Reiterating its strong condemnation of the assassination, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reminded all governments and the international community of their responsibility to act urgently against Israeli aggression and expansionism.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Iran’s unwavering support for a strong and dignified Lebanon, urging regional states to recognize the growing dangers posed by the Zionist regime, to back Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to contribute to preserving its stability and national strength.
