Chinese Embassy Celebrates 53rd Anniversary of Iran-China Relations

According to SAEDNEWS, The Chinese embassy in Tehran held a ceremony on Thursday marking the 53rd anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Iran. The event was attended by notable figures, including China’s Ambassador to Tehran, Cong Peiwu, the chairman of the Iran-China Friendship Association, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, and various Iranian lawmakers and association members.

During the celebration, Boroujerdi commended the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two nations, emphasizing the determination of Iran's new administration to foster bilateral relations. The landmark 25-year partnership agreement, signed in March 2021, aims to enhance the long-standing economic and political alliance between China and Iran, first outlined during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Tehran in 2016. This agreement covers cooperation in political, cultural, security, defense, and regional matters, as well as international collaborations over the duration of the partnership.

Boroujerdi expressed optimism regarding Iran's role in China's ambitious Belt and Road Initiative, also known as the New Silk Road project, stating he anticipates defined contributions from Iran along with significant practical advancements.

Ambassador Cong highlighted the deep historical ties between the two countries, pointing out that their friendship extends over 2,000 years. He noted the substantial progress made in bilateral relations, marked by deepening mutual political trust and an increase in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

With China being Iran’s largest trading partner, both nations continue to navigate the challenges posed by various sanctions imposed by the United States. The diplomatic relationship between Beijing and Tehran was officially established on August 16, 1971, and this anniversary serves as a reminder of the ongoing collaboration between the two countries.
