SAEDNEWS: US President Joe Biden spoke on Monday to the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and the UK to discuss de-escalating tensions in the Middle East and a ceasefire in Gaza, a White House spokesperson has said.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a bid to address the escalating tensions in the Middle East, U.S. President Joe Biden held discussions on Monday with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. This dialogue aimed to promote de-escalation and facilitate a ceasefire in Gaza, as confirmed by a White House spokesperson.
The current surge in hostilities can be traced back to October 7, 2023, when the Israeli regime launched a devastating military campaign against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. This offensive followed Hamas’s operation, dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm, which came as a response to the ongoing aggression and violations against Muslim sanctities in holy Quds by Israeli forces and settlers.
Compounding the tensions, the assassination of Haniyeh on July 31 raised additional concerns. He was in Tehran to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian when he was targeted. In response, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has stated that the assassination was orchestrated and executed by Israel, with backing from the U.S. administration.
Iran's Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, issued a stern warning to the occupying regime, pledging that Iran views it as its responsibility to seek retribution for Haniyeh's death, indicating that a "harsh punishment" awaits those responsible for this act of aggression.
As international leaders engage in dialogue to mitigate the conflict, the situation in the Middle East remains tense and precarious, underscoring the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
