US Responds to Attack on Ain al-Asad Base in Iraq

According to SAEDNEWS, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke by phone with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Both Austin and Gallant expressed concerns that an attack on US forces in Iraq represents a significant escalation, as reported by Al Jazeera.

This assertion from the American and Israeli military leaders comes at a time when the region is grappling with a severe crisis due to the Israeli regime's aggressive actions.

By providing the Israeli regime with extensive supplies of weapons and ammunition to use against the suffering Palestinian populace in the besieged Gaza Strip over the past few months, Washington has contributed to the ongoing violence in Gaza and exacerbated the Israeli-instigated turmoil in other areas of the region.

Zionist media outlets, citing US sources, reported that two American soldiers lost their lives in a rocket attack on Ain al-Asad base on Monday night.

The Pentagon has also confirmed that several US soldiers were injured at the Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq.

Military officials from the US are currently evaluating the extent of the damage at the base.

Reports indicate that three explosions were heard at the Ain al-Asad base, likely resulting from missile and drone strikes, on Monday night.

Earlier, on July 31, a security official in Iraq stated that the US had tightened security protocols at the Ain al-Asad military base.

As of early Wednesday morning, radar systems have been placed on high alert, monitoring and patrolling the airspace over the base, according to Baghdad Today.

Ain al-Asad airbase, the largest US military installation in Iraq, faced another rocket attack on July 26.

An Iraqi source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that two rockets struck the Ain al-Asad military base.

Located in the al-Anbar Governorate of western Iraq, Ain al-Asad Airbase is the largest US military airbase in the country.
