Araghchi: Iran Falling Victim to US Unilateralism and Israel’s Dangerous Moves

Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a keynote address at the opening of the conference on Iran and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), emphasizing the growing importance of multilateral cooperation in today’s fragile international landscape.

"In the last two years, our region and the world have faced major challenges, including unprecedented, blatant, and brazen violations of international law and the UN Charter by the Zionist regime, with backing from certain global powers," Araghchi warned during his speech.

He described the current global environment as one dominated by unrestrained unilateralism. "This worrying trend has weakened the international order, placing the stability and maintenance of regional and global peace and security under serious threat," he said.

Highlighting a path forward, Araghchi stressed that strengthening existing multilateral mechanisms and forming new coalitions of cooperation among developing countries is no longer optional—it is essential.

Labeling Iran as a victim of U.S. unilateralism and the dangerous adventures of the Zionist regime, he noted that the country has not neglected its responsibilities. "Iran remains an active, serious, and influential actor in multilateral and regional economic and development relations," Araghchi said.

He emphasized the potential of the ECO as a model for multilateral economic cooperation among neighboring countries. "Member states now recognize the value of ECO. With its long history, it offers undeniable added value for all of us. What we need now is a collective decision to achieve a truly effective ECO," he added.

Concluding his address, the Foreign Minister underlined Iran’s vision for a new economic architecture in the region—one built on partnership, mutual respect, and common interests. "ECO can and should play a leading role in shaping this future," he affirmed.
