According to Saed News, the ancient city of Kashan bore witness to a show of collective grief and defiance on Sunday, when the bodies of eight Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace personnel were paraded from 15 Khordad Square to Dar al‑Salam Martyrs’ Cemetery. Those killed—identified as Mohammad Zolfagharpour Noushabadi, Hamid Jalali, Yaser Gholamalizadeh, Nosratollah Baharvand, Ali Alirezaei, Mohammad Khoshabpour, Meysam Fath Gharib and Mohammad Ansari—lost their lives during what Iran terms Israel’s 12‑day war on its territory.

The funeral procession drew a sea of mourners, many waving clenched fists and chanting “Death to Israel!” Women showered the flag‑draped coffins with rose petals, while men beat their chests in a ritual evoking the sacrifice of Imam Hussein’s companions at Karbala. Hashem Rezaei, a veteran of the 1980s Iran‑Iraq War, likened the deceased to “birds of paradise” whose sacrifice had only deepened the nation’s resolve.

Students marched alongside the cortege holding placards denouncing “Zionist terror” and lamenting that “26 sons of Kashan” had been martyred in the recent conflict. As the sun set, candlelit vigils flickered beneath the cypress groves of Fin Garden—where reformist Prime Minister Amir Kabir was himself assassinated in 1852—underscoring Kashan’s storied resilience through centuries of turmoil.

Local officials and community elders framed the ceremony as both a commemoration of personal sacrifice and a reaffirmation of Kashan’s enduring spirit. “Kashan doesn’t forget,” whispered one elderly mourner at the cemetery gates. “Their memory will haunt those who struck them.”
