SAEDNEWS: The President’s Set of Positions and Actions Sends a Clear Message on Rebuilding Public Trust, Reducing Tensions, and Balancing Justice with Social Compassion
According to the political desk of Saed News, Iran reported: Following recent tragic events and the spread of media exaggerations about casualty figures, the government has emphasized a commitment to transparency and information-sharing. Seyed Mehdi Tabatabai, Deputy for Communications and Information at the President’s Office, stated: “By the President’s order, the names and details of all victims of the recent tragic incidents will be publicly released. A mechanism has also been established to carefully verify and fact-check any conflicting information. This measure is a clear response to falsifications and manipulated statistics. Those who act dishonestly will be exposed.”
This directive comes after Masoud Pezeshkian previously tasked the Minister of Justice with coordinating with the judiciary to expedite the release of related detainees while emphasizing attention to the families of the deceased.
The president’s combined positions and actions convey a clear message about rebuilding public trust, reducing tensions, and pursuing justice alongside social compassion. Experts and political activists interviewed by Iran called the direct follow-up on the recent events and public clarification a trust-building and justice-oriented measure, noting that it also helps correct potential errors while countering biased narratives from adversaries.
The Government Stands by the Truth
Saeed Nourmohammadi, spokesperson for the Nedaye Iranian Party, said: “In days when society is still under the shadow of recent tragedies, any decision or action that comforts grieving families and blocks rumors and psychological warfare carries even greater significance. From this perspective, the President’s directive to publicly release the names and details of all victims, along with a mechanism to verify conflicting information, is a valuable step.”
He added: “If implemented accurately, promptly, and with respect for the rights of victims’ families, this decision can represent an important step in rebuilding and gaining public trust.”
Nourmohammadi continued: “Transparency at such critical moments is not a decorative slogan; it is a governance necessity and even a national security priority. When the public is bombarded with conflicting numbers and narratives, the absence of reliable official information is quickly filled by rumors. Following recent events, hostile networks and opposition media have invested in inflating casualty figures without evidence or verification, aiming to stir public unrest. Officially releasing verified names provides an appropriate response to those seeking to exploit people’s suffering for political purposes.”
He emphasized that the positive effects go beyond neutralizing hostile media campaigns: publishing accurate information also clarifies legal and administrative follow-ups regarding the victims. “The President and government, by providing complete, trustworthy data while preserving the dignity of families, send a clear message: the government does not shy away from the truth but uses it as the basis for dialogue and decision-making. This approach restores social capital and limits the influence of statistic manipulators.”
Transparency to Reassure Public Opinion
Mostafa Hashemi-Taba, former Vice President during the reformist administration, called the President’s actions crucial for building trust: “The recent initiative by the President, especially under current conditions, can play a significant role in strengthening public confidence and increasing domestic transparency.”
Referring to ongoing media exaggerations, he noted: “Opposition forces hostile to the Islamic Republic continue to try to inflame the situation by spreading rumors, widening the gap between the public and the government.”
He added that recent measures, such as instructing the Minister of Justice to follow up on detainees in coordination with the judiciary, reflect the government’s attention to reducing tensions through rational and cooperative management. “The more transparently the government acts, the more likely it is to succeed, even though such actions will not end opposition media campaigns, they will certainly have an impact domestically.”
A Response to Hostile Propaganda
Amir Reza Vaez Ashtiani, a central council member of the Islamic Coalition Party, emphasized the need for statistical transparency: “Some foreign and hostile networks publish fabricated, undocumented figures to create confusion and distrust among the public. They make claims without any evidence, sometimes listing living individuals among the deceased.”
He added: “The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, a government body, has previously released official figures. This institution is the only official authority to record and verify such information. Any number outside its report lacks official credibility. The government must publish a clear and complete list of victims, based on official data, identifying each individual. This both counters exploitation by hostile media and strengthens public trust.”
Defending Truth Against Manipulated Figures
Political activist Gholamali Dehghan called the President’s action a defense of truth: “Masoud Pezeshkian’s initiative to release the exact names of victims, particularly on Thursday and Friday, January 8–9, is a logical and valuable step toward transparency and fully revealing recent events. The reality is that foreign opposition forces sought to exaggerate casualty numbers to further distort perceptions of events in Iran.”
He continued: “These actors, along with their Western backers responsible for crippling sanctions, attempted to manipulate young people with misleading propaganda. After failing to achieve their goals, they now exploit casualty figures to weaken Iran’s international image and pave the way for potential attacks, including from Trump. Pezeshkian’s understanding of these hostile scenarios allows him to block enemy exploitation through transparency.”
