Bandar Abbas is also known by the name "Bandar Gombroon," and this unparalleled city is filled with tourists during many months of the year. However, the best time to visit is from early December to early April, and during the Nowruz (Persian New Year) period, the city experiences its highest number of visitors.
Gano Hot Springs
You can start your adventure in Bandar Abbas from any direction you like, and what better way to begin than by visiting the hot springs of the city. This hot spring, which has mineral properties, is beneficial for many bone, movement, and skin ailments. Certainly, after a dip in this hot spring, the travel fatigue will be gone. Located 34 kilometers north of Bandar Abbas, in addition to its hot springs, this area is rich in vegetation such as cumin, mint, and thyme, as well as palm groves, streams, and waterfalls, all contributing to an unforgettable experience. This region is one of the most pleasant areas in the province, with the Gano hot spring located alongside a beautiful, green mountainous area with a cool climate. The recreational and welfare facilities at this location have made it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. Tourist complexes have also been built around this hot spring. The Gano Hot Spring, located beside the limestone heights of Mount Gano, has a water temperature exceeding 40°C. Its sulfurous water is used for irrigation of the palm groves and bathing, though due to the strong odor and the chemical composition of the water, plants and animals cannot live in it. Only a special species of fish can survive in the conditions present in the hot spring. Therefore, during your visit to Bandar Abbas, don't miss the chance to visit this unique spring and create memorable moments.
Ghol-e-Dari Bathhouse
As mentioned earlier, the Gano hot spring offers bathing facilities, but you will not be bathing in the Ghol-e-Dari Bathhouse. This historical bathhouse is a masterpiece from the Qajar period, located on Imam Khomeini Street in the Qaleh Shahi neighborhood. It was built by a famous merchant named Haji Sheikh Ahmad Ghol-e-Dari for public service. While it used to be the only place for the people of the Persian Gulf to bathe, today it has been converted into a museum and is one of the city's key tourist attractions. The construction of this bathhouse used materials from the sea, such as spongy stones and local mortar, combined with hand-beaten plaster to withstand humidity. These stones were sourced from the Persian Gulf, and other materials like the tile flooring in the bath are highly durable. The water for the bath was sourced from nearby springs, and the architecture of the bath is widely recognized for its beauty. The bathhouse's ceiling is designed with five domes to ensure proper ventilation, light, and heating inside, and the skylights served to illuminate the space. One of the key features of the bathhouse is the "khazineh," a section used for heating the water, which was constructed with mortar and stone. The Ghol-e-Dari Bathhouse was registered as the most valuable historical site of Bandar Abbas in 1374 (1995) and has undergone restoration and preservation work in recent years.
