SAEDNEWS: When it comes to deserts, few people can imagine a river or even a pond in them.It is interesting to know that in the wonderful and eternal world of Iran’s Lut Desert, there is a river that takes its name from the taste of its water; it is called “the Shur (Salty) river”.
This river has traveled a long way to reach the Lut Desert. Known as the lifeblood of the region, it carries vast amounts of salt along its journey and reaches its peak salinity at the desert’s center.
Here, visitors can understand why it has earned the name the Salty River. It stands out as one of Iran’s most unusual natural attractions.
Located in the heart of the Iranian desert, the river begins with fresh water, but as it descends from the highlands, its salinity steadily increases. By the time it enters the desert, it becomes one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world.
