If You Have Guests Over, Never Do These Things / Act Charismatically

According to the family magazine service of Saed News, all Iranian tribes are known for their hospitality. Many of us have learned important hosting tips from our parents. To be a good host, not only should you follow certain etiquette, but you should also avoid the actions listed below.

Don't Be Unkind to Your Spouse and Children

When guests arrive, greet them warmly with a smile. Show them you're happy to see them. Frowning can make guests feel unwelcome and unwanted. Never argue or fight with your spouse or children in front of guests, as it makes them uncomfortable.

Don't Lock the Children's Room

Some people lock the children's room to prevent their belongings from being damaged. This is disrespectful to the guests. Instead, move fragile items out of reach and allow your child to share their toys with the guest's child.

Don't Make Too Little Food

While it's important to avoid waste, making too little food is also inappropriate. Serving insufficient food can be seen as disrespectful to the guest. Eat with your guests, as some may be shy and stop eating if the host isn't eating.

Don't Scold the Guest's Child

Some children may misbehave at gatherings, doing things like screaming or being destructive. While these behaviors can be frustrating, don't scold the guest's child. Leave the discipline to their parents.

Don't Talk About Costs and Inflation

Avoid discussing rising prices and expenses, especially if you are the host. Talking about the cost of food and fruit can make guests feel uncomfortable and think you are counting the cost of hosting them.

Don't Leave Breakables Within Reach

Before your guests arrive, move valuable and fragile items out of children's reach. This way, you can relax and enjoy your time with your guests without constantly worrying about your belongings. If something gets broken, remain calm and assure your guest that the important thing is that no one was hurt.

Don't Spend Too Much Time in the Kitchen

In some gatherings, the host spends most of their time in the kitchen preparing food, leaving the guests alone. This can make guests feel bored. It's better to keep the gathering simple and spend more time with your guests.

Don't Stay Silent

Avoid being silent while your guests are in your home, as they may interpret your silence as dissatisfaction with their presence. Find a common topic to discuss. When conversing with your guests, make eye contact to show you value their words.

Don't Change Channels Constantly

If your guest is watching their favorite program, respect them and avoid changing channels frequently.

Be Mindful of What You Say

Pay attention to your words and behavior. Avoid commenting on the guest's appearance or personality traits. Remember, your guests have mirrors at home and are aware of their own characteristics. Your words reflect your intelligence, so be mindful of what you say.
