SAEDNEWS: Iran’s parliamentary speaker declared the recent 12-day conflict a “watershed moment” for the nation, claiming it advanced Iran’s strategic awareness by decades and solidified unity in a way unseen in recent history.

“Twelve Days That Changed Iran Forever”: Speaker Ghalibaf Hails Transformative War as 50-Year Leap

According to Saed News, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has characterized the latest 12-day war as a transformative episode, asserting that the brief but intense conflict propelled the country “50 years forward” in terms of strategic clarity and national direction. Speaking at a memorial for General Mohammad Bagheri—who was recently killed in the fighting—Ghalibaf linked the progress directly to what he called the “divine blessing of martyrdom.”

“The level of understanding we achieved during those twelve days would have been unattainable under normal circumstances,” Ghalibaf stated during his visit to the family of the slain commanders Mohammad and Hassan Bagheri. He described the fallen generals as enduring icons of Iran’s military history, crediting their legacy with shaping the strategic trajectory of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The speaker praised other figures of the Iran-Iraq War era—including generals Rashid, Salami, Hajizadeh, and others—as the “essence” of the Islamic Republic’s defense identity, citing their continued influence on both military and socio-cultural spheres.

Referring to Iran’s recent wartime cohesion, Ghalibaf said, “What we saw was not just unity—it was divine intervention. It reshaped Iran overnight.” He further emphasized that this unity underscored the enduring relevance of the country’s revolutionary ideology, especially in its opposition to the United States and Israel.

Reaffirming a hardline stance on foreign policy, Ghalibaf echoed Ayatollah Khomeini’s metaphor, likening any U.S.-Iran rapprochement to “a relationship between wolf and lamb.” He insisted that Iran’s ideological path remains incompatible with American interests unless the U.S. “abandons its demonic nature.”

Closing his remarks, Ghalibaf described Iran’s governing principle—the concept of Velayat-e Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist)—as the unifying axis of the revolution. “Victory requires unwavering persistence,” he declared, warning that compromise will only lead to defeat.
