As Iran Mourns Its Dead, Yemen Strikes Back: Houthi Forces Target Israel with Ballistic Missiles

According to Saed News, Yemen’s Houthi military spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced that Houthi forces carried out a “special operation” targeting a critical Israeli facility in Be’er Sheva using the “Zulfiqar” ballistic missile, claiming the strike hit its intended target “by the grace of God.”

The statement was issued as millions of Iranians participated in funeral ceremonies for victims of Israel’s recent airstrike on Iranian territory—an event that has reignited tensions across the region.

The Houthi military command confirmed that the latest strike was part of a broader wave of attacks over the past week that targeted multiple Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jaffa, using a combination of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“All operations were executed with precision and achieved their objectives,” Saree claimed in remarks broadcast on pro-Houthi channels. He emphasized that these strikes were a continuation of Yemen’s military solidarity with Palestinians and the broader regional axis resisting Israeli and Western influence.

While the Israeli government has not yet officially commented on the reported strikes, defense sources have previously acknowledged increased threats emanating from Yemen, particularly in the wake of the Gaza war and escalating confrontations involving Iran-backed regional forces.

Be’er Sheva, located in southern Israel, is home to both military installations and strategic infrastructure. If confirmed, a successful missile strike on this location could mark a significant escalation in the transnational dimensions of the Israel-Iran conflict.

The timing of the attack—synchronized with public mourning in Iran—has drawn attention from regional analysts, who interpret the move as both symbolic and strategic. It reflects the deepening alignment between Iranian and Houthi military agendas, as Tehran seeks to assert its influence through proxy networks amid rising tensions with Israel and its allies.

The international community remains on high alert as the Middle East faces a potential spiral of retaliatory strikes and escalating hostilities, with observers warning that a broader confrontation could engulf multiple countries across the region.
