SAEDNEWS: The city of Samjiyon, located near the sacred Mount Paektu, has undergone extensive reconstruction in recent years. New hotels have been built in a vernacular architectural style and equipped with modern amenities, aiming to enhance both the visual appeal and the level of comfort for domestic and international visitors.
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, accompanied by his daughter Ju Ae, inaugurated a new luxury tourist hotel in the mountainous region of Samjiyon.
The newspaper Rodong Sinmun, the official organ of the Workers’ Party of Korea, reported in its December 23 issue that five modern and luxury hotels — including the “Iqal Hotel” — were opened simultaneously in the mountain city of Samjiyon. The state-run media said the project was carried out under the direct guidance and planning of the party’s central leadership, with the aim of transforming the area into a four-season tourist hub and a model for modern mountain cities.
The report noted that Samjiyon, located near the sacred Mount Paektu, has undergone extensive reconstruction in recent years. The newly built hotels combine local architectural styles with modern facilities in order to enhance the visual appeal and comfort of the area for both domestic and foreign visitors.
Officials in Pyongyang hope that by expanding accommodation infrastructure in Samjiyon, the city will become a symbol of socialist architectural development and a major mountain tourism center in the north of the country.
