SAEDNEWS: During Friday prayers in Karaj, Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini Hamedani warned that history since the 1953 coup proves trusting the U.S. only leads to betrayal. He emphasized that Iran’s revolution has endured through the sacrifices and steadfast presence of its people.
Tehran — Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini Hamedani, the Friday Prayer Leader of Karaj, reminded worshippers of the lessons of the August 1953 coup against Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, saying: “From that day until today, whoever trusted the United States has been struck down. We must always learn lessons from this — both officials and the people.”
According to Saed News Student News Agency, in his Friday sermon this week, Hosseini Hamedani also referred to the overlap of Arbaeen with the anniversary of the return of Iranian prisoners of war on August 17, 1990, following the Iran–Iraq War. “What extraordinary scenes took place on that day,” he said. “Our dear freed POWs shared heavy and moving memories from captivity, which all of us must revisit. We should never forget the efforts they made to safeguard and stabilize the Revolution.”
He stressed that the history of the Islamic Revolution until today has been full of courage, sacrifice, and selflessness by the people. “It was the people of Iran who created the Revolution, who themselves preserved it, and who nurtured it. Across the world, you will not find another political system that relies so deeply on the presence of its people. Without the people’s participation, nothing in the Islamic Republic of Iran can succeed, and this role is a real one in every arena.”
Hosseini Hamedani concluded by saying even Iran’s enemies recognize this truth: “They know that to succeed, they must try to separate the people from the Revolution.”
