Iran Slams Western Silence on Gaza, Hails Brazil’s Support for Palestine

Speaking at a ceremony on Monday to receive the credentials of Brazil’s new ambassador to Tehran, André Veras Guimarães, Pezeshkian praised Brazil’s stance in support of Palestinian rights and denounced Israel’s attacks on Iranian territory.

The president welcomed Brazil’s positions as both a bilateral partner and as the current chair of the BRICS bloc, hailing its policies against unilateralism and in favor of multilateralism.

“What we are witnessing in Gaza today violates all international laws and offends the conscience of any awakened soul,” Pezeshkian said.

Despite geographical distance, Iran and Brazil have strong potential for cooperation in various fields, he added, expressing hope that the new envoy would help elevate bilateral ties and pursue shared interests.

Ambassador Guimarães, for his part, reiterated Brazil’s condemnation of Israeli crimes in Gaza and its opposition to recent attacks against Iran, saying his country remains committed to multilateralism and resisting unilateral approaches through the BRICS framework.

He added that the wide-ranging capacities of both countries could overcome the challenges posed by distance and facilitate closer cooperation.
