SAEDNEWS: Parliament has banned the use of unlicensed satellite communication tools such as Starlink and has set penalties including imprisonment and equipment confiscation for violators.

Imprisonment Awaits Starlink Users

According to Saed News, the use of Starlink has been officially banned. This decision was passed today in Parliament with the aim of strengthening efforts to counter espionage and cooperation with the Zionist regime and other hostile countries against national security and interests.

During the recent Zionist regime’s aggression, Ehsan Chitsaz, Deputy Minister of Communications, stated that after a drone was shot down in Qom, it was found to be carrying an advanced American satellite modem, model A3LA-R-MOD, equipped with an Iridium 9534 transmitter. These devices enable connection to the global Iridium network—a constellation of 66 satellites that ensures complete, secure, and stable coverage, even in remote areas. Chitsaz warned that enemies are not limiting themselves to infiltrating domestic networks but are also exploiting global communication infrastructures for their objectives.

Reports also indicate that during the war in Ukraine, Starlink satellite internet was used as a tool for guiding drones.

According to Article 5 of the Parliament's resolution, the use, transport, purchase, sale, import, or distribution of unlicensed electronic internet communication devices—including Starlink—is prohibited. Violators will face Level 6 discretionary imprisonment (6 months to 3 years) and equipment confiscation. Moreover, supplying, producing, distributing, or importing more than 10 of these devices—or doing so with the intent to act against the state—will carry Level 4 imprisonment (5 to 10 years).
