SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack outside a judicial complex in Islamabad, Pakistan, which left several people dead or injured.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei on Tuesday expressed condolences to the people and government of Pakistan, particularly to the families of the victims. He wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the incident, according to the ministry’s website.
Highlighting Iran’s principled stance in categorically condemning all forms and manifestations of terrorism and violent extremism, Baqaei emphasized the necessity of confronting and eradicating terrorism, including through strengthened regional cooperation.
The attack in Pakistan’s capital, carried out by a suicide bomber, killed 12 people in a sharp escalation of militant violence. Pakistan’s defense minister said the incident had pushed the country into a "state of war."
Pakistani government ministers accused neighboring Afghanistan of complicity in the bloodshed—an allegation Kabul denied—and warned of retaliation if Afghan authorities failed to rein in the militants Islamabad says were responsible.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, denied involvement in the attacks. Islamabad claims that the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups are based in Afghanistan, allegedly with support from India.
