SAEDNEWS: The new Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian has said that the United States and some Western states with their indifference and support have encouraged the Israeli regime to continue its crimes.
According to SAEDNEWS, A recent phone conversation with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin indicates that Iranian President Pezeshkian laid out pressing concerns regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The call, which took place on Monday, provided an opportunity for the new Iranian president to both express gratitude for the Vatican's commitment to peace and to impress upon the cardinal the urgent need for action to halt the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime.
President Pezeshkian acknowledged the Vatican’s supportive stance towards global peace, stability, and security. He urged the Vatican to take a more active role in compelling the immediate cessation of the Israeli regime's crimes in Gaza. He highlighted the necessity of lifting the blockade that has severely restricted access to essentials for the besieged population and called for the provision of humanitarian aid through international and humanitarian organizations.
During the conversation, Pezeshkian addressed the alarming actions of the Israeli regime, which included the assassination of Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. He stressed that Iran retains the right to respond to such acts of aggression, as permitted under international law.
Cardinal Parolin acknowledged President Pezeshkian’s recent electoral victory and expressed his desire to enhance the relationship between Iran and the Vatican. He reinforced the Vatican's commitment to advocating for an immediate halt to civilian casualties in Gaza and called for a ceasefire as a critical measure to restore peace and security in the region.
This dialogue underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing human rights violations and humanitarian crises. Iran’s calls for action are a reminder that lasting peace can only be achieved through concerted efforts to protect the rights and dignity of all individuals affected by conflict.
