SAEDNEWS: The head of the Iranian traffic police said that as many as 550,000 pilgrims have been to Iraq on Arbaeen pilgrimage this year by land so far two weeks before Arbaeen Day.
According to SAEDNEWS, As the Arbaeen pilgrimage approaches, the head of Iran’s traffic police has reported that approximately 550,000 pilgrims have made their way to Iraq by land so far this year, just two weeks ahead of Arbaeen Day.
Brigadier General Teymur Hosseini shared this statistic with local media, noting that the pilgrims have crossed into Iraq through various shared border points. He highlighted the Mehran border crossing in Ilam Province as the busiest terminal, with a remarkable 279,000 pilgrims recorded at this location alone. "Mehran border gate has been the most crowded Arbaeen border terminal in the country," he stated.
In light of the significant traffic congestion at the Mehran border gate, Brigadier General Hosseini encouraged pilgrims to consider alternative border crossings, including Khosravi, Bashmaq, and Tamarchin. This suggestion aims to alleviate the pressure on the Mehran crossing and ensure a smoother travel experience for all pilgrims.
As thousands of individuals prepare to embark on their spiritual journey to Iraq for Arbaeen, the Iranian authorities are actively working to manage the inflow of pilgrims and facilitate their pilgrimage experience.
