SAEDNEWS: Washington's new sanctions targeting Russian media are seen as an alleged fight against interference, and will not go unanswered, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Sunday.

Moscow Vows to Respond to New U.S. Sanctions on Russian Media

According to SAEDNEWS. On September 15, the Russian Foreign Ministry voiced strong opposition to recent sanctions imposed by the United States on Russian media organizations. The sanctions, which target the Rossiya Segodnya international media group among others, are viewed by Moscow as part of a broader agenda to stifle dissent and control the narrative.

Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, described the U.S. actions as an "orchestrated campaign" and a "witch hunt." She expressed concern that ongoing censorship in the United States would not be adequately recognized by international organizations, which she claims are influenced by Washington.

Zakharova criticized the silence from these organizations, interpreting it as complicity in the U.S. government's actions against Russian media. She firmly stated, "The actions of the U.S. administration will not go unanswered."

The spokeswoman also accused the current U.S. administration of using "extremely cynical" justifications for the sanctions, claiming they are fighting against interference in political affairs. Russia is preparing to respond to what it sees as unjust measures against its media outlets.
