SAEDNEWS: French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday urged a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, which has been criticised over the conduct of its retaliatory operation in Gaza.
According to SAEDNEWS, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, criticizing the country's actions in its military operations in Gaza. Speaking to France Inter, Macron stated, "I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza." He also emphasized that France is not sending any arms to Israel.
This comes after Germany announced on September 18 that it would stop new exports of weapons to Israel while it addresses ongoing legal challenges related to arms sales. According to a Reuters report, last year, Germany approved arms exports to Israel amounting to 326.5 million Euros ($363.5 million), marking a significant tenfold increase from 2022. Consequently, Germany's decision reflects growing scrutiny over military support to Israel amidst rising tensions in the region.
